Coeur d’Alene Lake is one of the most beautiful lakes in all of America. The amount of tourists alone that are attracted to this area speaks in volume of how amazing the Coeur d’Alene area is.

From some of my other blogs, you probably have picked up that I grew up in this area. My friends and I would spend most of our summer days cruising from lake to lake. While hanging out on the lakes, some of the activities included wake boarding, water skiing, inner tubing, jumping off cliffs, and simply just having a good time out in a boat. There is and was so many fun things to do, it is hard to list them all.

Today, however, I’m not going to talk as much about my experiences or memories on the lake. Instead, I’m going to give you guys a little history overview of the Coeur d’Alene area as a whole.

Ok, raise your hand if you have been to the CDA area and know how the city got it’s full name?

Yes, you are right. I cannot see you raising your hand. Just pretend I can see it for the sake of having a little fun.

Awesome! Some of you do, and some of you don’t know how Coeur d’Alene city got its name. Before I jump right into the history behind Coeur d’Alene and how its name came about, let me first tell you what the city has become and what it has grown too.

Years back the population was almost nothing in the Norther Idaho country (Coeur d’Alene). Over the years, however, more and more people started hearing about this little land of paradise. Most folks wouldn’t believe anyone because, in their mind, they were thinking “What the heck is in Idaho. Potatoes?”

This is a typical response; I receive even to this day of people that have not heard of the Coeur d’Alene area. However, the people that have heard of the area, rave how it’s one of the most amazing places on earth.

Many celebrities and well-known people now come to the Coeur d’Alene area with friends, family, and loved ones to have a relaxing fun time.

Barbara Walters left the CDA area stating Coeur d’Alene was, “A little slice of Heaven.”

Now that the secret is out about Coeur d’Alene, the population of the city continues to rise. With that being said, “Shhhhhhh.”  Don’t tell anyone else.  Haha we can’t let the whole world know, well at least not yet.

Ok, now I will tell you how the city of Coeur d’Alene developed it’s unique and attractive name.

In the late 18th and early 19th century,  there were those French fur traders.  These French traders where doing their business around the Northern Idaho land, when they stumbled upon a bunch of Native Americans who lived along the lakes and rivers of the Northern Panhandle.  The Natives tribe was called Coeur d’Alene.  Long story short, the name stuck and to this day we call this area by the lakes and rivers Coeur d’Alene.

Big shout out to all our Native American friends who paved the path and created such an amazing place to live.  Thank you for discovering this beautiful land created by the big Man himself.

As the population of this area continues to grow, just remember where it began and who found this amazing place. Don’t take this area for granted, because who knows, in a few years it might be completely different.

Make sure you call up some of your good friends this weekend and get outside and enjoy this amazing place.

Next blog post is going to be about my dentist in CDA, which In my opinion is the best, however, I might just be a little bit bias haha. Have an amazing day and I’ll talk to you all soon.

Exotic Fun Things On The Lake

3 Things That Attract Tourists To Coeur d’Alene

Before I jump right into what CDA Lake aka Eagle Lake, needs in the summer to attract more people, let me first brag about this special place I call home.

Coeur d’Alene Idaho is one of the most beautiful places to vacation at in the country.  The  summer temperatures (averaging around the mid 80s) is the perfect amount of sun to keep your body in a state of relaxation an zen.  This reason alone makes CDA very attractive in the summer.  People from Miami, Arizona and California come running towards Northern Idaho to escape the scorching, hot temps that they have during the summer in their own cities.  They would rather not battle the brutal temperatures from their own cities, therefore, they migrate to Northern Idaho.

The summer time in CDA is when things start popping off. The crowds start coming and when there is people, there is a night life.  All the tourists enjoy the cool summer night breeze as they bounce from bar to bar on Sherman Street.  The summer night life in Idaho so pretty fun, and the tourists most definitely enjoy it.

Coeur d’Alene Lake has one of the most exotic resorts on a lake in the country, therefore, when people are in town on vacation, they want to get out on the water and have a good time. With that being said here are the three amazing activities that CDA already offers.

#1 Parasailing is when you are attached to the back of a boat with a 500 foot rope and then you are lifted up into the air with a parachute.  The company then drives the boat around the lake.  As they are doing this, you and your partner are enjoying the most incredible view of the whole area from 500 feet up. Sounds awesome, right? It’s so much fun, and definitely one of the top things that bring people to Idaho.

#2 Boat rentals are a big hit on CDA Lake.  This is really fun activities for families to do, because you can rent a boat with plenty of room to hold a family.  Once the whole family is out on the lake, then it’s time to sit back, relax, and enjoy the view.  There are a handful of things you can do from the boat as well too.  Activities of tubing, water skiing, and wake boarding take place. This is one of the more popular activities.

3 Things That Would Attract More People to Coeur d’Alene

#1 The first thing I think would attract more people to the area is if you could rent yachts.  There are already so many people that come to the area that are well off and want this type of luxury.   This would definitely attract more A listers to the area and at the same time, increase CDA’s coolness factor. Yachts are cool, therefore, it would make Coeur d’Alene even more awesome.  When I think of yachts, I think of Miami Beach.  And all I can say is, I think Miami did something right to attract large amounts of crowds.  Follow in their footsteps and you can’t go wrong.

#2  Have you ever heard of a hovercraft before?  If you haven’t, then don’t feel bad because I didn’t really know what they were either, until 6 months ago.  After doing some more research on them, I found out that they look like a boat load of fun. Hovercrafts are these boat like structures that literally hover across the water (and some of them even on land).  I think it would be an awesome bonus to Coeur d’Alene and would definitely attract more people from around the world.

#3  Last but not least, this area would be complete if someone started a business and offered sky diving.  If that happened, there would be so many people coming to Coeur d’Alene Idaho, our local economy wouldn’t know what to do.  I have gone sky diving once, and this is by far one of the most incredible natural highs anyone could experience. With that being said, this would be the cherry on the pie to all these amazing, fun activities.

What do you think would be some great, exotic activities that could be added to the CDA area?

Welcome to my new blog called Eagle Lake Exotics. This blog is going to be about Eagle Lake aka Coeur d’Alene Lake in Northern Idaho. I bet right about now your saying, what the heck.. I’ve never heard of CDA Lake being called Eagle Lake and I’m going to tell you right now, I agree with you. That’s because It’s a name some of my friends and I gave it when we were young.

When we were younger, we would see so many bald eagles around CDA Lake, therefore, we gave it the nickname Eagle Lake. And ever since we gave it that name, it has stuck between our friends.

I’ve wanted to start a blog for a really long time, however now that I’m older, I knew I couldn’t just start a blog about Eagle Lake and just talk about Eagles haha. I wanted to give my blog that same name but at the same time throw in exotics and talk about all the cool businesses and adventures of the Northern Idaho area.
